Who's New Scooby-Doo: An ACL Weekend 2 Preview

Face it folks, it’s getting spooky out there. The leaves are turning colors, the weather’s getting colder, there are monsters in the house (and the senate)...oh, and ACL Weekend 2 is upon us. We’re not gonna bore you with a re-preview of the bands who played last week. These are some the gifted musicians who are only playing this second and last weekend. Y’all have fun now, ya hear?

Superfonicos

Afro-Colombian Funk para mi gente. This Austin-based, eight-piece group goes off, blending traditional Colombian instruments with modern electrics to produce enchanting music. Come find the funk Sunday at 12:15 on the Tito’s Stage.

Lily Allen

We first heard Lily Allen bring her brand of beautiful vocals to Mark Ronson’s track “Oh My God” back in 2007. Over a decade later, the soulful singer shines brighter than ever. Her most recent project, No Shame, marks a comeback for Lily Allen, and we can’t wait to see her Friday at 4:35 on the Miller Lite Stage.

B.A.G. (Gifted Gab x Blimes Brixton)

Bars. These west-coast women spit concrete back and forth over subtly bubbling beats. The MCs each know success in their individual careers, and the real rap product of their collaboration only underlines the talent these two women bring to every track. Check em out Sunday at 3:00 on the BMI Stage.

Nicole Atkins

Nicole Atkins brings her beautifully haunting voice to Austin City Limits and we couldn’t be more grateful. She produced her new album Goodnight Rhonda Lee with Fort Worth’s Niles City Sound, and the resulting music gives will send shivers up your spine. Take in this timeless talent as she croons her 50s-and-60s-psychadelia-inspired music Friday at 12:45 on the BMI Stage.

Kydd Jones

This rising Austin singer/rapper is coming home on the back of his new project “Homecoming.” Show up early to show love and he’ll show you a good time. See y’all there Sunday at 11:30 at the Barton Springs Stage.

Lard Dog and the Band of Shy

Wu-Tang is for the children. Lard Dog is for the kids. These guys are goofy and gleeful, and while they make music for knee-high headbangers, that doesn’t mean they’re not talented and fun. If you have kids, catch the show Sunday at 4:30 on the Austin Kiddie Limits Stage.

Vince Staples

Vince Staples doesn’t care if you go see his show. Earlier this year he threatened to quit music, and his hit 2018 Single “Get the Fuck off My Dick” made it clear that the Ramona Park prodigy has no time to listen to haters. He donated the proceeds of his now famous GoFundME campaign to charity, and now he’s back in Austin to serve straight bangers. Please, grab a Sprite and meet us Sunday at 6:00 at the American Express Stage.

Trampled by Turtles

Hailing from Duluth, Minnesota, Trampled by Turtles shoot palpable energy and emotion straight off of the stage. They play fast. They play slow. They play bluegrass with banjo. Come listen to the gang Sunday at 5:30 on the BMI Stage.

Lil Wayne

The Louisianimal settled his lawsuits, hit the studio, and came back hard. Weezy F. Baby (please don’t forget the f) is back to blast Zilker Park with his energetic brand of bar-breaking rap. Do not miss this. Saturday at 7:00 on the Homeaway Stage.
