Tuesday Tunes: August 20
Greetings earthlings! It’s Tuesday, and Tuesday means tunes. As usual, our Culture Capital research staff has scoured the interwebs to bring you our favorite music releases of the past week. Prepare your ears for some funky jams you can freak and vibe to.
Shura’s “the stage” is a groovy bop replete with dope drum breaks, heavenly harmonies, and sexy synth melodies. This exquisitely composed track combines the beauty of future-wave with rich vocals and a 70s soul vibe that caused me to picture folks partying on a spaceship. If you enjoy the track, be sure to check out the rest of Shura’s new project: forevher.
Sandy (Alex G)’s new song, “Gretel”, is a wavey psychedelic rock track laden with interesting melodies and raw vocals. The acoustic guitar Sandy uses gives the song texture and a slight hint of folk influence. The brief instrumental break circa the song’s halfway point allows his lyrics to stand out and touch the heart. Listen to the rest of his new EP, Southern Sky, if “Gretel” brings pleasure to your earholes.
